LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Paula Vasan is an investigative reporter for WHAS11 in Louisville, KY.

She was formerly a TV and digital journalist with News 12 in Brooklyn and the Bronx, where she wrote, shot, and edited all her own stories. She started her career as a business and technology reporter at the height of the financial crisis, first at Yahoo!, then at CIO Magazine, and later as a freelance writer. Her work has appeared in The Boston Globe, The Atlantic, The Huffington Post, CNBC, CNET, and The Verge. From finance to crime and health trends, she enjoys the challenge of making sense of numbers in the way they impact people's lives.

Growing up in a multiethnic household (Paula is half Indian, part Chinese, and European), she has always been fascinated by different cultures, and enjoys learning about her own family history. In her early 20s, she traveled to Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, and other cities around India, staying with family she had never met.

She graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in journalism, and a concentration in politics.

Paula has always aspired to inform and tell stories that inspire positive change. A life-changing moment for her was watching the ash and debris of the terrorist attacks of 9/11 from her classroom window at Brooklyn Technical High School in New York City.

In her spare time, Paula enjoys exploring her new city of Louisville with her husband and their rescue dog, Bella. She feels lucky to call Louisville home!
