Jessie Cohen is a multi-skilled journalist at WHAS11 in Louisville, KY, specializing in general assignment reporting.
She joined the team in March of 2018, excited to live in a warmer climate…well for her. She made the move from Fargo, North Dakota where she was Weekend Anchor/Producer and a Multimedia Journalist. After surviving -57-degree windchills during the polar vortex, covering one of the most closely watched Senate races in the country and creating relationships with dozens of community organizations, she’s excited to call Louisville home.
She says although she’s covering news in Kentuckiana, with an exciting new audience, her values stay true; what’s important to her is telling the stories of those in the Ohio Valley because everyone has a voice that’s deserved to be heard.
As a big city girl through and through, Jessie is from New Jersey, just minutes outside of the big apple. So yes, she will argue that New York style pizza is the ONLY kind of real pizza. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. As a Terp, Jessie had the privilege of being an on-air reporter and main anchor for Capital News Service’s Maryland Newsline. She has never been scared to try new things and take on an adventure, so it was only natural to move around. Throughout her college years, she interned in Los Angeles, Washington D.C., New York City and studied abroad in Florence, Italy.
When she’s not doing her research or running around with gear, she’s usually at Orangetheory…always wondering how it STILL gets harder years later. She also handmakes jewelry, has a passion for theater and all things show tunes, she loves to travel and is a major foodie.
