Step Up and Help Eastern Students Win National Shoe Design Competition
Eastern was runner-up in 2010
Eastern High School art students put their best foot forward and have advanced to a public online voting round in the Vans Custom Culture Art Showcase. Hundreds of schools from across the country entered the contest and Eastern is one of 10 regional finalists. The winner of the national competition takes home a $50,000 grant for the art department. Online voting continues through May 2, 2011.
In the 2010 contest, teacher Trisha Hamilton-Cooper's class was chosen for an expenses-paid trip to Southern California through a highly competitive process that narrowed 326 competitors to 20 regional finalists. Last year, Eastern finished as a runner-up in the competition.
