Three weeks ago, Grammy Award winning trio Lady Antebellum began a contest offering fans a chance to “Own the Night” with a private concert at their prom this spring.
Around the same time, deadly tornadoes swept through the Kentuckiana area, devastating, and in some cases destroying, communities in Southern Indiana and Kentucky.
Henryville, Ind. was one of the hardest hit. The town’s school building which houses grades kindergarten through 12 was heavily damaged by a tornado just before school let out.
Since that fateful day, dozens of videos were made by communities across Kentuckiana and the country in an attempt to bring Lady Antebellum to Henryville’s prom.
After carefully reviewing the submissions, the trio chose the community of Henryville for their story, resilience and unity following devastating tornadoes earlier this month. Not only was their own submission moving, but schools across the country spontaneously submitted videos campaigning on behalf of Henryville High School to receive the special concert, including the winning submission by Silver Creek High School.

Unfortunately, Lady Antebellum has a previously scheduled engagement the same day as Henryville’s prom, but the group is going one step further to bring a little light into the lives of those who have lost so much – the group is planning a bigger event on May 16 for the juniors and seniors, followed by a benefit for the entire Henryville community.
Details for all arrangements will be shared over the next few days as they are confirmed on www.ladyantebellum.com.
