(WHAS11) -- While most kids relax during spring break, 10-year-old Mikey Stetter was hard at work volunteering to help people affected by the tornadoes in Indiana. He came all the way from Wisconsin after doing a school project about the American Red Cross.

Stetter's dad said he knew he couldn't say no when his son asked to spend his vacation volunteering. They pair spent Wednesday in Borden, Ind. helping a homeowner who lost his barn during the storms.

While he isn't in the classroom, Mikey said he's still learning. He told WHAS11 the experience has left him appreciating what he has, and he is happy he took time to help.
