WEST LIBERTY, Ky. (WHAS11) – Eastern Kentucky was one of many areas ravaged by tornadoes from last March.
West Liberty had massive damage including businesses such as the Freezer Fresh Dairy and the Citizens Bank which were destroyed.
On this anniversary, the businesses have reopened and residents say they’re still working to rebuild both physically and emotionally.
“This is a bittersweet time for us because lives were lost, friends of ours were lost and we can’t forget that but we’re happy that we see progress and that we are rebuilding,” Cody Prater said.
The EF-3 tornado struck the heart of West Liberty last year.
6 people were killed.
