HENRYVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- Construction crews from Belfor, the company coordinating a massive restoration project on Henryville Elementary and Jr. Sr. High School, are working virtually nonstop to ready the buildings before August 1.
By looking at the March 2 tornado's destruction of the school and the work still ahead, that may appear impossible.
According to company representatives, they are working 12-hour work shifts to complete plumbing, roofing, sprinkler system, electrical work and more. The interior work, of course, will not start until all of that is completed.
West Clark Community Schools Superintendent Monty Schneider said the August 1 deadline is an arbitrary one that depends on construction.
Crews want to expedite the process and will keep working, with the exception of a two-week-period to give employees a break.
Jr. Sr. High Principal Troy Albert said the news of a possible early completion date comes as a surprise.
