(WHAS11) -- Six months after tornadoes ravaged the town of Henryville, residents share what they've learned and the progress that's been made since that fateful day.

A ravaged school is rebuilt, a broken town is brought together and a piece of history is put in place.

Great strides have been made in Henryville, Indiana six months after an EF4 tornado tore the town apart.

"Everybody has gone the second mile," said Henryville resident Sue Vest.  "Its just brought out the best in everybody."

But the storm that tore Henryville apart is the same storm that brought the community together.

But there is still much work to be done.

"I think patience and persistence are two things that we had to bear in mind to get to this point and I think those values remain with us," said Father Steven Schaftlein of St. Francis.
