First Alert StormTeam Forecast
Updated today at 8:07 AM
Winter Weather Advisory: Friday 6pm to Saturday Noon
Today: Rain/snow mix developing midday-early afternoon, changing to light snow early evening. High 37. 1" or less in most spots by late tonight, especially on grass/deck.
Tonight: Snow showers taper off after midnight, getting cold and windy, low 23.
Discussion: Wintry weather arriving in two parts. The first batch is a light wintry mix through the early afternoon, and we could see a break in the precipitation late afternooon/early evening. The second batch is steady light snow this evening (mainly after 6pm) through late tonight. Snow tapers off after midnight. Temps will be above freezing today and most of the evening, so much of this snow will melt on the roads. Falling temperatures to the 20s overnight, so watch for slick spots. Winds will get gusty overnight, which will help dry out the roads. Generally, we're expecting 1" or less, with some isolated pockets up to 2", the higher amounts off to the east (Lexington/Bluegrass region). Bitter cold this weekend, high near 30 Saturday, wind chills in the teens. Just above freezing Sunday. Gradually warming next week, and staying unsettled. Light snow/rain overnight Monday into Tuesday. More rain Thursday.
