(WHAS11) -- Police appear to have solved the mystery of thefts from an Oldham County High School. After a long standoff Tuesday in West Louisville a couple is facing major charges.

Jennifer Cheatem and James McGuffin faced a judge today for the first time Wednesday.

Police found stolen equipment from North Oldham High School in the backyard of the couple's Louisville's home nearly 20 miles away.

School officials say they are pleased they will be getting the equipment back.

McGuffin has several past drug and theft charges going back six years.

Family of the couple told WHAS11 they have two young children together who were not at the home at the time.
