LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Local lawmakers pushed grocery carts to cut the ribbon at First Choice Market on Wilson Avenue.
The store will provide easy access to a wide-selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, a deli counter and bakery.
It'll be managed by local, independent grocery operator ValuMarket.
Congressman John Yarmuth says the need was great for a store like this in west Louisville.
“According to the USDA, more than half the people in this neighborhood don't have regular access to a grocery store,” John Yarmuth, 3rd District Ky. Congressman, said.
The store is open from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. seven days a week. It was funded with federal stimulus dollars and metro government loans.
