LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) --The trial of a woman accused of leaving her baby in a car for twelve hours in May of 2011 is coming to a close.

Both prosecution and defense wrapped Friday, Aug. 3, in the Molly Shouse murder trial.  On Friday Shouse took the stand in her own defense.

The 28-year-old said she loved her son and they went everywhere together. She says the day Kenton Brown died, the two of them had returned home after running errands. She told the court she left the 2-year-old in the car while going upstairs to change clothes. However, according to Shouse, she then passed out and the next thing she knew her mother was knocking on the door asking where the baby was.

Shouse has given conflicting accounts of her drug use.  Friday in court she admitted to taking Xanex twice the day before leaving her son in the car.  She acknowledged being a Xanex user for four to five years and knowing the drug made her drowsy and forgetful.

Closing arguments in the case begin Tuesday, Aug. 7.
