BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Two Cracker Barrel employees shared a scary and similar incident. Police say an older man attempted to abduct two different women near the restaurant in Bardstown. The first incident happened on Friday when one of the women was walking back from the nearby Chili’s. Police said a man in his 50’s or 60’s with a white scruffy beard pulled up in a white van and offered her a ride.

“He was very persistent in trying to get her into the vehicle and while she was walking she noticed there was another younger white male in the back of the van,” said Capt. Tom Roby.

She told police the side door of the van was open, so she thought fast.

“She was pretty quick witted about herself. She looked over into the Lowe's parking lot and saw a man standing beside a vehicle and she said, ‘That's my husband. I don’t need a ride,” said Roby.

The man wasn’t her husband, but the lie scared the perpetrator off. Police think he came back again on Saturday. This time when a different worker left the restaurant the man allegedly grabbed her and said “You’re coming with me.”

“She screamed immediately and resisted him. As she screamed, there was a man in the parking lot who heard the scream. He yelled out at the van and then started advancing toward them,” said Roby

The driver was scared off again. This time by that unknown man who is believed to be the only witness.

Police said the second victim noticed some type of cage in the back of the van. She also was able to give police a partial license plate number J-H-L. If you have any information you’re asked to call police.
