LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Tom Hatton will ignite the fireworks that will light up the Louisville sky.
“I'm the Thundernator,” Hatton said. That is quite the title for a man who has not even been to thunder before.
The 62-year-old Lexington man secured the job through the Kentucky Lottery Fun Club Rewards.
“I entered my lottery tickets into the lottery website and I won it," Hatton said. That is his area of expertise.
“I'm a big lottery fan. I know all about that,” Hatton said.
Hatton feels like he is getting a handle on this thunder business. He admits he was unsure at first. After all, it is his first time.
“The whole screen will be ten, nine then zero you're on the for the launch key to launch the fireworks. It's as simple as that. Then I’m gonna get you out on the balcony as fast as I can so you can see what you did,” Thunder producer Wayne Hettinger said.
Hettinger says Hatton fits right in with the thunder crew.
“He's chair number three. Everybody working in the command center has a chair number,” Hettinger said.
He's got a pretty good view of the show. Hatton says he's glad that out of 300,000 people who entered to win, he got the job.
“I think I can handle it,” Hatton said.
