FRANKFORT, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has emailed supporters a warning message, the government is "coming for [their] guns."
Part of the email reads, "The gun-grabbers in the Senate are about to launch an all-out assault on the second amendment, on your rights, on your freedom."
It comes after President Barack Obama said he would ask Congress to renew a ban on assault weapons and restrict large-capacity ammunition magazines.
McConnell has said the first test of any new legislation will be whether it infringes on the second amendment.
