LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Shively police say 34-year-old Jason Gregory went on a three day crime spree, which ended in a police chase Thursday night.

According to police, Gregory approached an elderly woman at her home on Mill Creek and asked her if he could mow her lawn. He then asked her for a glass of water when the women went to get the water he pulled out a knife and demanded her car keys and took off.

Diane Vance lives next to the woman Gregory robbed; she said the situation terrifies her.

“I don't know what gets into these people that they think they can terrorize people do much and take things that don't belong to them," Vance said.

Josh Myers with the Shively Police Department described Gregory's actions as desperate. "We had a lot going on these three days and everything seemed to be pointing back to him," Myers said.

According to police, Gregory stole checks, firearms, and two cars in the last week. An officer tried to pull Gregory over Thursday on South Crums and Drover Road when he took off speeding. Police say he ran through a road block and almost hit an officer.

Georgia Rollins was sitting on her porch when police followed Gregory into her neighborhood.

"All we heard was a big boom, and when we looked up the car was right there," Rollins said.

Rollins told WHAS11 Gregory hit her neighbor's house with the stolen car and then got out of the car and tried to run away.

Police eventually caught Gregory. He is being held at Metro Corrections. He faces almost a dozen felonies. Police say more charges may be filed.
