LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The assistant athletic director, girl's softball coach and security guard for Fairdale High School was arrested Sunday after police say he was driving drunk, and caused another car to hit a Louisville police officer.
It happened on I-265 just east of New Cut Road about 2 a.m. on Sunday.
The officer was working an accident when police say 43-year-old Adrian Adkins drove through the scene drunk and hit one of the wrecked cars. That car then hit the officer.
Police say Adkins then left the scene, but was arrested a short time later.
Adkins is facing numerous charges, including DUI, wanton endangerment and fleeing.
The officer was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be OK.
School district officials say they have not had the chance to talk to Adkins, but he will most likely be suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
