OLIVE HILL, Ky. (WHAS11) -- An Eastern Kentucky mayor resigns after being arrested on drug charges.
Olive Hill, Kentucky Mayor Danny Sparks was arrested Wednesday night following an undercover drug buy.
Police say Sparks sold marijuana to an undercover officer within 1,000 feet of Olive Hill Elementary School.
Sparks is charged with felony trafficking within 1,000 feet of a school, along with having an open alcohol container in his car.
Sparks told the Grayson Journal-Times newspaper that he made a very big mistake.
In his resignation letter, Sparks said what happened was something he'd never done before and deeply regrets it.
