LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) - - Jewish hospital's latest hand transplant recipient is headed home.
Ronald Thurman lost his hand in a farming accident in 2003. He is the oldest patient to receive a hand transplant at Louisville’s Jewish Hospital.
Thurman said "I've still got therapy to do when I get home and I'm not completely done with my work, I understand that, but it's nice to go home and sleep in my own bed."
Thurman, 56, of Marion, Ind. received a new hand in February after a grueling 15 hour surgery.
Thurman said “I feel great and I have had a good experience in Louisville, I’m just ready to go home”.
