LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear announced a new program that will train minorities in construction jobs.
He said the program, Bridges to Opportunities, will provide training and business education for female and minority business owners.
The announcement came after a more concrete time line for the Ohio River Bridges Project was determined.
He said the initiative will reflect the diverse face of the Kentuckiana community and in the short-term, it will help provide workforce for bridges.
The Ohio River Bridges Project is expected to be ready for drivers by October 2016 and Beshear said in the long-term, those who complete the program will be armed with skills for a lifetime career.
