(WHAS11) -- Clark County Sheriff's deputies busted two meth labs located a few miles apart in a matter of hours Tuesday night.

Officers were called to the first location on Old State Road just after 7:30 after citizens checking on the welfare of a relative at the mobile home observed a strong chemical smell coming from the residence. When deputies arrived, they say Jacob Burton, a man with a long history of drug offenses, ran out the back door.

While investigators were still processing the meth lab in Henryville, they received a call of another meth lab. That one was located several miles away on Beyl Road near Memphis, Ind.

Deputies say Matthue Broady was cooking meth inside the home. They say officers have responded to the home before, including a recent incident in which an explosion occurred.

"There have been several meth labs in recent months in that residence," Maj. Donnie Bowyer of the Clark County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies say they also found Jacob Burton, the man who fled the first meth lab, hiding in the home. They took him into custody.

Both men are currently in the Clark County Jail, charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.

"You shut it down at the time, but the way these are normally, they go right back at it," Bowyer said.
