LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Drivers on South Hurstbourne Parkway can expect even longer delays over the next few days.
The road, already notorious for backups, is now down to just one lane at Linn Station Road as crews make improvements to the I-64 interchange.
"There's a lot of dead stop traffic," Lindsay Desselle said.
Desselle travels Hurstbourne each day.
"A lot of people weave in and out of traffic, and go off road to get where they need to be," she said.
"It is one of the more heavily traveled interchanges in the city," Andrea Clifford with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said.
While the lane closure is expected to last through the weekend, Clifford said they are hoping the crews will finish the work ahead of schedule. She said the electrical work that's being done must be finished before other improvements can be made. The KYTC encourages drivers to exercise patience or avoid the area.
