(WHAS11) -- Tea party-backed state Treasurer Richard Mourdock won the Republican nomination Tuesday. He spent much of his campaign portraying Richard Lugar as too moderate for the conservative state.
Mourdock will face Democratic U.S. Rep. Joe Donnelly in November.
