(WHAS11) -- A patient treated by an Elizabethtown doctor is speaking out after learning the OBGYN faces felony charges.
24-year-old Cara Gray has been a patient of Dr. Cahn Vo, owner of Bluegrass Women’s Healthcare, for five years.
After the birth of her second son she went to Vo to have an IUD implanted in her because she was not ready to have any more children.
She chose that method of birth control because its success rate is 99 percnet. Gray says six months after having the IUD, she felt symptoms all too familiar.
“I knew that I was pregnant there was no denying, and I shouldn’t have been,” Gray said.
After having her third son Gray again had Dr. Vo insert another IUD and less than two years after that was inserted she found out she was expecting her fourth son.
Dr. Vo faces 13 charges including fraud and implanting non-FDA approved birth control into the country and inserting the IUDs into his patients. Gray says the accusations make her sick to her stomach.
“He’s messing with people’s lives . . . You shouldn’t be scared to go to the doctor and be afraid he’s going to put something in you that’s not going to work. You shouldn’t have that fear. You should feel safe when you go to the doctor,” said Gray.
While Gray received her first IUD during the timer period that is listed in the federal indictment it is unclear if she did receive one of the non-FDA approved devices. Dr. Vo faces 233 years in prison if convicted and more than $3 million in fines.
