(WHAS11) -- A convicted sex offender working as a contractor at a Louisville day care has been arrested after failing to comply with the sex offender registry.
William Griffin was arrested Tuesday at the home incarceration office downtown. Police say he had been living at his sister’s home on Wilson Avenue, but he didn't register that address.
“He's never really been into a whole lot of trouble or nothing. He hangs around the house all the time. He's a family man,” Barbara Ward said.
Officers only found out after he checked in on Tuesday to tell them he was going to be working at the Spradling Daycare on south Preston Street.
“He never had contact with our children. He was never in the building,” Director Phyllis Brown said.
Griffin was on home incarceration for a probation violation and failing to pay child support. His sex offender status stemmed from a sexual assault conviction of a 16-year-old in Connecticut.
He is due in court on Thursday morning to face a charge of non compliance.
