A Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for most of Kentuckiana until late tonight.

Max HD radar is lighting up this morning! We have snow in southern Indiana, a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain along the Ohio River and a cold rain south of Bullit county.

We have a lot more to get through as the day progresses! Look at all the snow out to the west heading in our direction.

Okay, lets time out the transition to snowfall with Futurecast as we head into the afternoon. Here is a look at the lunch time hour. Look for all snow in southern Indiana with the snowfall knocking on the metro's doorstep. The wintry mix moves further to the south with a cold rain to our far south.

The afternoon is when the weather really goes downhill. Bands of moderate to heavy snowfall will set-up across the area with snowfall rates of 1 - 1.5" per hour! This will cause big problems for the afternoon commute.

By this evening, the snow will start letting up with scattered snow showers still around.

Look for the snow to move out of the area by 10 or 11pm tonight.

The amount of snow we are expecting through tonight hasn't changed. Areas north will get hit the hardest with 4-10". Points just north of the river could get 3-6". The metro and areas south to Bullit county may have 1-4" of snow on the ground when this event is over. Look for 1" or less from Bardstown and south.
