LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Brent Phillips of Lyndon caught a serial burglar searching through his car on his surveillance camera Tuesday night.
“With today's technology you can see almost instantly what’s going on at your house,” Phillips said.
What the thief didn’t know is that Phillips installs home security systems for a living and he had cameras rolling at his home on Holly Springs Drive that night. It gave police a first look at the man who they say is responsible for dozens of car break-ins in Lyndon, Bellmeade and Hurstbourne.
“They are entering unlocked vehicles and taking cash, change, social security cards, personal insurance documents. They are things that could lead to much bigger problems down the road as far as identity theft,” Detective J.J. Seamon, with LMPD’s 8th Division, said.
Phillips said the man only got away with his GPS, but he gained more exposure than he bargained for. Police believe he’s working alone. If you’ve got any information you’re asked to leave an anonymous tip at 574-LMPD.
