LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Marine veteran Cliff Leonard of Jacksonville, Florida met fellow Marine Martin Prather of Louisville while serving in Vietnam. Prather was shot and killed on September 5, 1967.

Leonard honored his friend with a life size bust that he sculpted for more than three months with the help of an old faded photo.

“They never found my kid brother’s body, so I feel like seeing this bust is going to be as close as I get to having him back,” said Kay Nelstead, Prather’s sister.

The bust was unveiled at the VFW post in Middletown on Monday evening.

Leonard has been sculpting busts of fallen servicemen and women for years.
