LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)--  Coach Bobby Petrino has his coaching staff coming together just days after he was announced as the head coach for the Cardinals.

Petrino announced on Monday afternoon at a press conference that Garrick McGee, former coach at University of Alabama-Birmingham, would be joining the staff as the offensive coordinator.

McGee was offensive coordinator on Petrino's staff at Arkansas and will be taking the same position for Louisville.

McGee said that he was not interested in the job until he knew the team had a chance with win a national title.

"I've watched UofL for awhile," McGee said. "I knew they were going to ACC. They have respect from coaches all over the country."

Petrino did not have the full staff set, saying they are still hiring and they have to go though human resources for the university before they can officially be announced as a coach.

McGee took to the podium after Petrino announced him and took questions.

"I trust Petrino," McGee said. "He puts pressure on me to be best offensive football coach in the country. I'm comfortable in that system."

"I couldn't pass up opportunity to compete on this level."
