LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It hasn't even been 24 hours but thousands of people are meeting Joshua Clemons and Kimberly Martin, thanks to Justin Timberlake and the two men's romantic schemes last night at the KFC Yum! Center.
It may have looked spur of the moment, but Clemons sent hundreds of emails to Timberlake’s team in the months before the concert, with a request to propose to martin during the show.
Finally he got a call from Timberlake's manager in mid November.
“Justin wants to help you; he has a plan in place. We will call you a couple of days before the concert,” Clemons said.
Clemons arrived at the KFC Yum! Center hours before the show to set it all up with JT.
“He wanted us to put our creative minds together,” Clemons said.
The couple's original tickets were upper level and then at the last minute, Timberlake's crew moved them to a special VIP table.
“Justin – in his words to me were – I’m gonna hand you the mic and you gotta man up and do it. I'm not going to help,” Clemons said.
After Timberlake played Clemons and Martin's favorite song “That Girl’ they got the invitation to come on stage. Martin was still unsuspecting at this point.
“I had no idea; I didn't know what we were doing. I just thought he was pulling people on stage and then we got up there and he started saying stuff, she said,
“Kim I love you. I got down on my knee and I said will you continue to make me the luckiest man in the world and marry me,” Clemons said.
“I really didn’t hear the crowd; I was so focused on what was going on,” Martin said.
Martin of course said yes; post-show the newly engaged couple got to go backstage along with Clemons’ 9-year-old daughter Mia and Martin's sister. Mia now has a changed outlook after what happened last night.
“I've never been a very big fan of him but since last night I was like wow,” Mia said.
She hopes to be a junior bridesmaid and she's already got an escort in mind for the big day.
“I don't think it will happen, but I hope that Justin was will come to the wedding,” Mia said.
The couple plan to set a date this January.
