LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)-- The wild, wild west was alive again on Friday in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Despite freezing temperatures, more than 14,000 spectators gathered to watch the Annual Buffalo Roundup, a Black Hills tradition.

Park managers said it is more than just a show, once the beasts are herded into pens they are branded and vaccinated.  A few of the buffalo are chosen for auction, in order to prevent over-population.
