LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Kenneth Allen Keith, 48, stepped into a Boyle County Courtroom shackled and wearing a bullet proof vest for the first time maintaining his innocence for three murder charges he faces.

The Baptist pastor is accused of killing Mike and Angela Hockensmith, co-owners of a Danville Pawnshop, and gold broker Daniel Smith on September 20. The Hockensmith’s two children were in the pawnshop when the couple was murdered.

Today, Keith’s attorney pleaded not guilty to the three murder charges and robbery charge he faces. Investigators said around $40,000 Smith had on him was missing from the crime scene.

Keith’s attorney said he doesn’t believe his client can get a fair trial in Boyle County and expects a change of venue to happen. The Commonwealth has not said whether they plan to see the death penalty in this case. Keith is currently being held without bond, but will have a bond hearing on December 2 at 9 a.m.

Keith had several family members in the courtroom, but they declined to comment.
