LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It was a day that sent shockwaves through the city of Louisville -- May 17, 2012.

Police were responding to  a quadruple shooting where two people died at a home at 32nd and Greenwood when more gunfire broke out. A total of three people were killed and three others were shot that fateful day.

The incident ignited a call for change in West Louisville and as we approach the one year anniversary three shooting survivors have come together to organize a walk for peace.

Erica Hughes, now 9-years-old, was shot when she was just two years old - her mother was killed in the attack. Sheronda Morris and Niki Lucas were both shot in January and continue to recover. Hughes, Morris and Lucas, along with other victims, wanted to help organize a walk to help other survivors of gun violence.

The Compassion Walk is set for Sat., May 18 – we will have more information as the in the coming months as it becomes available
