LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)— Churchill Downs and Humana Military partnered with the Kentucky National Guard in sponsoring the second annual Survivors Day at the Races Sunday at Millionaires Row 4 at Churchill Downs.

The day is designed to recognize the surviving family members of military service members who have given their lives in defense of our nation since September 11, 2001.  More than 350 family members and guests were scheduled to take part in the event.

Highlighting the day was a race named in honor of the Survivors of Fallen Military Heroes.  Eight family members were randomly selected for presenting the trophy to the winning jockey and owners.

A custom-made quilt honoring the Survivors of Fallen Military Heroes was also unveiled during the presentation.
