Another round of wintry precipitation will move into Kentuckiana overnight into Sunday. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for our far southern counties from midnight until 3PM Sunday and for counties north of the Bluegrass Parkway to the Metro from 4AM until 6PM Sunday.
The initial band of precipitation will start off as sleet and snow to the far south around 3AM Sunday morning.
As warmer air works into the area aloft, the sleet and snow will change over to freezing rain south of the parkway. The precip will continue to push further north into the Metro with snow and sleet possible. The roads throughout the morning will be slick, especially along and south of the parkway where freezing rain is more likely.
Temps will continue to climb by midday with possibly a small amount of freezing rain making it up north towards the Metro. Light snow still expected in southern Indiana with the transition to a cold rain for Taylor, Green and Adair counties.
The wintry mix will quickly move out of the area by the afternoon with temps ranging from the upper 20s in southern Indiana and upper 30s to the far south.
I think the RPM model is handling the expected ice accumulations great. Minimal amounts of ice possible with up to 0.2" south of the parkway.
Areas from the Metro south to the parkway may pick up 1" or less of accumulation (snow and sleet).
