LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – For the first time since a double shooting at a Homeowners Association Meeting at the Springdale Community Church, the group met again. This time, the meeting was moved to Northeast Christian Church.

The last time the group met, police say Mahmoud Hindi, upset over a dispute with the board about a fence and a driveway, shot and killed the board’s president Dave Merritt and board member Marvin Fisher.

For Fisher’s wife Candace, the pain of her loss is still very raw, “I miss him every day, all day long,” she said in an interview Thursday, “He was the love of my life and we pretty much did everything together every day.”

The Spring Creek HOA planned to stick to business as usual at their monthly meeting. In a statement, they said they are “healing from this tragedy and working to get our lives/neighborhood back in order. Thank you to the community for the outpouring of thoughts, prayers and support.”
But, Fisher doesn’t want anyone to forget what’s been lost.

“I just want people to know that two great men were lost on Sept. 6. Men that did a lot for this community and meant a lot for this community and they should not be forgotten,” Fisher said.

She gets by daily with the help of her sister. Letters from friends sharing memories of Marvin make her cry, she says, but help her heal.

“Knowing that Marvin would want me to continue and to go on with my life and to remember our great times that we had and live for him,” Fisher explained.

Members of the Spring Creek HOA said they have appointed a new president and board member to replace Merritt and Fisher. They hope to move forward from the horrible events of September.
