LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The Shively library is getting ready to shut down for a makeover.

The library will close on Saturday and remain shut down during renovations, which are expected to be finished by April.

The project includes construction of a new library entrance, more public internet computers and better accessibility.

The library will also get new carpets, ceilings and paint.

"It's long overdue. We started with needing a new HVAC system and while we're at it, we've had lots of generous donations from Metro Council members and the city of Shively so we'll be able to do a lot more for the city here," Lisa Sizemore, Assistant Director of the Louisville Free Public Library, said.

The library will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

While construction is going on patrons are encouraged to visit the Iroquois, Southwest and Shawnee libraries.

Book drops at the Shively branch will remain open for customers who need to return books.
