Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - A former Shelby County school employee is in jail after being accused of stealing thousands from the district and has been charged with several counts of theft.

Benita Anglin worked as the payroll manager for Shelby County schools before she was suspended in April.

She resigned later that month but wasn’t arrested until August 22 after the Shelby County Sheriff's Department served a warrant for her arrest.

A spokesperson for the school system said the school board may seek restitution and ask that Agnlin pay the money back.
