LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Arson investigators were called to a fire at a school playground Wednesday afternoon.
Lake Dreamland Firefighters responded to Crums Lane Elementary school after heavy smoke was spotted coming from the playground behind the school.
Firefighters arrived to find that a plastic piece of playground equipment had been set on fire.
Police and arson investigators were called to the scene to investigate, since the fire appeared to have been intentionally set.
“It's destroying public property to start with. We've got some witnesses coming forward to say its juveniles. Juvenile fire starting is a serious problem. We like to stop it early.”
The piece of equipment destroyed by the fire was purchased by the school in 2011.
At that time, it cost more than $6,000 dollars.
Police have made no arrests in the case.
