CLARK COUNTY, Ind. (WHAS11) – The Clark County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a toddler died while playing outside with his siblings Wednesday evening.

The coroner said he believes 18-month-old Aiden Maples was struck by a car, resulting in his death. An autopsy showed Maples' injuries are consistent with those seen when a pedestrian is struck by a car.

Initially, police were called out to the home in the 1100 block of Leon Prall Road on the report of a dog attack.  However, when deputies arrived at the home they said it appeared the child had fallen on gravel.

At this time in is not clear exactly what happened, but police said a driver was at the home earlier Wednesday to pick up  a child. Police said no one at the home saw what happened.

The boy's death is believed to be an accident, police said.

A neighbor said he agrees with police and the toddler's death was an accident. He also said the people are "very good people."
