(WHAS11) - Indiana State Police say they have a man in custody for the murder of a 15-year-old southern Indiana girl.
The girl's grandfather tells WHAS11 News that the girl's stepfather was the one arrested.
Alexis Oesterle's body was found Monday night in the backyard of her Rockport, Indiana home in Spencer County with a wound to her neck.
Officers found her body one day after she disappeared.
Osterle's grandfather, Jeff Spong, told WHAS11 News by phone late Wednesday afternoon, that police have arrested 32-year-old Ryan Lee Shelby around 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. Shelby was the girl's step-father.
Spong says he believes Shelby planned the crime.
