LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Louisville native and Penn State cheerleader Paige Raque was reunited with her fellow cheerleaders on Thursday, weeks after she fell five stories from a window.

The Penn State cheerleaders are in town to support their volleyball team.  Paige met up with the team at their hotel. She barely made it through the door before she was bombarded with hugs from her teammates, thrilled to see her recovering.

Her roommate and teammate Jessica Harmon said, “Everyone on our team wanted to go on this trip, not just to support our amazing women’s volleyball team, but to see our teammate and it’s awesome to be able to see her in this stage, so I know she’s just going to keep improving and we look forward to see[ing] that.”

After Paige’s fall in September, she was recovering in a hospital in Pennsylvania. Her parents had to travel hundreds of miles to be by her side. The cheer squad rallied around her, doing what they could to help.

“They held fundraisers and events that raised a ton of money for all the medical bills,” Paige recalled, “They came to visit me in the hospital, even when I was in a coma, they came to visit me, so they really, really were there for me.”

Not long ago, Paige was finally well enough to come back to Louisville to continue her recovery. "It's been really nice being in my own house,” Paige said, “But I wish, I continue thinking about what they're doing and what I'm missing out on so it's hard, but it's nice and hard at the same time."

She said she’s been missing the life she’s created at Penn State. But, the NCAA Volleyball tournament brought a piece of that life to her here in Louisville. “It’s great!” She said with a laugh, “I’ve always wanted them to come to Louisville and now here they are finally!”

Paige’s dad Tom says she’s already working on a plan to get back to school by next summer or fall. For now though, they’re focused on getting her fully recovered.
