LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- An overnight drug bust netts more than 20 people in Kentuckiana.

Police say they were trafficking in drugs and guns in our community. The arrests happened in Floyd and Clark counties as well as in Louisville.

“The drugs that were traded were meth and cocaine, on the pill side oxy and hydro. The trend I saw with this particular investigation on the drug side was an increase of heroin,” Keith Henderson, Floyd County prosecutor, said.

Authorities say they all shared a common thread of selling guns and drugs but stopped short of calling this organized crime.

“My office intends to aggressively pursue these charges and continue to send the message that if you come to this community to deal drugs or firearms you will be held accountable,” Henderson said.

At 5 a.m., authorities went out across Kentuckiana.  In many cases conducting hand-to-hand undercover drug deals nabbing 23 suspects.

“Guns and drugs are a continuing problem and as that rises and you see this every so often we'll have these larger investigations and raids,” Henderson said.

In all there are 39 defendants as a part of this investigation. Police are still working to round up the remaining suspects.

The investigation was called Around the Horn, meaning it covered all corners of our community bringing alleged dealers off the streets.
