(WHAS11)—A Missouri dog that has disappeared is getting a lot of support via social media.

The dog, Phineas, was accused of biting twice, and his fate was about to be decided by a judge on Thursday, but was stolen this weekend.

Phineas was seized by the order of the Salem, Mo. Mayor and ordered to be destroyed after the biting accusations, a 16-month legal fight followed.

The vet that was caring for Phineas said that the bite was a primate bite and was going to testify to save the dog.

The vet also believes someone popped the lock to steal Phineas from the office.

The attorney for the family is offering a $25,000 to anyone with information that leads to an arrest of the person or persons responsible.

Phineas has a Facebook page with more than 170,000 followers.
