LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Bourbon giant Maker’s Mark has announced the reduction of alcohol by volume in its bourbon.

In a recent letter from Maker’s Mark executives to brand ambassadors, the company says low supply is their reason for the change but not to worry, there’s plenty of bourbon on shelves.

They’ve decided to reduce the alcohol by volume from 45 percent to 42 percent and reducing the bourbon from 90 proof to 84 proof.

The letter says drinkers will not notice any difference in taste and executives are currently working to expand the Lorretto, Kentucky distillery where the famous bourbon is made.
