(WHAS11)-- Monday is the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. That means federal, state and many county offices and courts are closed.
Post offices are also closed and there will be no regular mail delivery. Most banks are also closed and it's a day off for schools as well.
You can celebrate MLK day and President Barack Obama’s Inauguration at the Ali Center.
Starting at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 21 the center will stream Inauguration events in its auditorium. At noon and 3 p.m., Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous "I Have a Dream" speech will be streamed. After the noon showing, there will be a discussion about how we can continue King's dream 50 years later.
Those events are all free and open to the public.
There will be services and celebrations will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The MLK Motorcade will go through West Louisville and end at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church between 10 a.m. and noon.
There are some road closures planned around that area.
The archdiocese of Louisville is hosting its 28th annual event at the Cathedral of the Assumption downtown. The theme this year is a man of faith and conviction and that starts at 1:30 p.m.
Also student’s faculty and staff at the University of Louisville plan to volunteer in Louisville’s West End for MLK day.
They will join up with students at Maupin Elementary to clean up the school's campus and clean up and restore civil rights sites in the Parkland neighborhood.
That will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Volunteers will meet at the Student Activities Center on Belknap campus.
Volunteers will get free lunch and hear from several keynote speakers, including Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer.
