LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)—A Mississippi man was convicted in Louisville on Wednesday for extorting the UofL Athletics Department.
It took a jury less than two hours of deliberations before they found Thomas Ray guilty of sending an email to Athletic Director Tom Jurich threatening to ruin the reputation of the athletic association if he wasn’t paid $3.5 million.
Ray used the alias Melinda White to send the message to Jurich. He faces two years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
