LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- As we get ready to celebrate Valentine’s Day, a Louisville couple, Mildred and Ken Stibbins, has been married for 71 years.

It's a good day for Mildred and Ken at Wesley Manor.

One of their rituals is a strawberry milkshake; Ken began making them for Mildred when her memory began to slip.

A strawberry milkshake and the same song each and every day, a song called “Have I told you lately that I love you?”

It's Ken's way of holding onto his wife, he's 90 and she's 89, they met in south Louisville when they were just 17-years-old.

Ken was smitten from the start, and afraid to ask her out.

A double date led to a marriage proposal and they've been together ever since.

The two have weathered a war, raised a family and dealt with two bouts of breast cancer but the two have always been anchored in faith. Ken was a minister with Billy Graham's group for years.

Mildred is always there with him and teaching him to show love with hugs.

Now Ken showers her with love, not just hugs, but cards that line her room.
He says their commitment really is until death do us part and every young couple starting out needs to really think about this question, is it really love and are you really in love?

Ken Stibbins can easily answer that question and has for 71 years, he loves the woman he calls Millie, because he always has and always will.
