Police chief addresses public regarding multiple shootings near Downtown Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Louisville Metro Police Chief Steve Conrad addressed the public on Thursday afternoon after multiple shootings near Downtown Louisville.

Conrad said he was shadowing 2nd Division officers when the violence broke out around 1 p.m. and officers were called to the 1000 block of 32nd Street. From that shooting two people are deceased and two were injured, both are at University Hospital.

While officers investigated the first shooting and were establishing a crime scene, Conrad said a second shooting occurred after an altercation between two women outside of the crime tape.

Conrad said one woman shot the other woman and an nearby officer shot the shooter. The shooter was transported to the hospital and the other woman passed away, Conrad said.

Conrad did not confirm if in fact the shooter is pregnant or how many shots were fired.
