LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A judge has denied a request for bond from a Louisville man charged with fatally shooting two members of his homeowners association.
Mahmoud Yousef Hindi has been held without bond since he was jailed after the Sept. 6 shooting at an eastern Louisville church.
Jefferson Circuit Judge Fred Cowan denied Hindi's request to set a bond during a hearing on Monday.
Prosecutors argued that Hindi's statement to police admitting that he shot and killed 73-year-old David Merritt and 69-year-old Marvin Fisher should be enough to keep him held without the possibility of bond.
Hindi, a former physician, has declared that he has no money and is being represented by a public defender. Hindi's attorney, Mike Lemke, declined to comment after Monday's ruling.
